Bringing and Collecting Your Child

For children attending core provision only we ask you to keep to the set session times as these are carefully planned for the children. We very much appreciate children arriving and being collected on time, children who attend regularly make much better progress in their development. All persons bringing and collecting children must be 16 years of age or over in line with the Centre policy. Please tell a member of staff beforehand should someone different be collecting your child. (Extended provision is able to operate more flexibly.)

Attendance

It is very important for your child to attend the Centre regularly. Please tell us of any reason for a child’s absence from the first day. If we haven’t heard from you the Parental Involvement Officer will contact you. For extended absence, for example going on holiday, you must tell the Head teacher and acquire a consent form beforehand. Absence of up to 4 weeks can be authorised in exceptional circumstances, however, if your child does not return to the Centre after 6 weeks, his/her place will be given to another child on the waiting list. We do have an attendance policy that is kept in the Main Office. Please ask a member of staff if you want to see a copy.  (Extended provision is able to operate more flexibly.)

Meal Times

The Centre provides a varied menu of healthy meals for all full time children - catering for individual needs, eg Vegetarian, Halal. All dinner money should be paid in full each week on Tuesdays only, to the Administrator in the Reception Office. Please put the correct amount in the envelope provided as we do not keep change on site. Please write your child’s nursery room number, name, date and the amount on the front of the envelope before handing it in. This will ensure that the amount paid by you is recorded in your child’s register correctly. Charges for extended provision dinner money operate in the same way. Alternatively your child may bring packed lunch.

Your child may be entitled to a free school meal. The information to help you apply can be found on the letter you will be given when your child is offered full day sessions. If you are still unclear, please ask a member of staff.

Payment for Extended Provision

As with Dinner Money this should be paid on a Tuesday to the Administrator. The Centre keeps very strict records of payment and does not allow parents/carers to go into arrears.

Snack

A snack and milk is provided for children each session. Parents/Carers of core provision are requested to donate 50p per week towards the cost and this should be paid to a member of nursery staff at the beginning of each week. Where a parent/carer prefers this could be paid half termly in advance. Costs of snack for extended provision are included in the charges.

Playing Outside

“Young children naturally and spontaneously want to play outdoors and Early Years Practitioners and researchers have always recognised the value of outdoor play”  “Can I Play Out” Bradford Education

Children enjoy playing out and learn so much through interacting with the outdoor environment. They are not only developing physical skills but are learning across all areas of the curriculum. We make outdoor play available all year round and sometimes this can be very messy!! We therefore ask you to send them in clothes that you don’t mind them getting dirty, and are appropriate for the weather. Children are also regularly taken out on visits.
