Governing Body

My name is Dale Smith. I am a LA representative for Wharfedale Ward and I have had contacts with Canterbury Estate since 1974. I am father of 3 and grandfather of 6. I am passionate about children's welfare, education and progress.     My name is Naveed Mushtaque. I am the chair of governors, and have been a governor for almost 2 years. My expertise lies in working with communities, families and children. I am employed at Horton Park Primary School as a Community Learning Manager. I am responsible for behaviour, attendance, admissions, out of school provision and PE. I hope to bring this experience of schools and education to the Centre and to act as a critical friend in the onward and upward journey of Canterbury Nursery School and Centre for Children and Families. My name is Tracy Wilkinson. I am the Vice-Chair of Governors, and also the named Governor for Safeguarding. My role as Governor involves attending meetings, being involved in decisions relating to aspects of how the Centre is managed, the policies and procedures that are in place and also be involved in activities that the Centre run. As lead Governor for Safeguarding I make termly visits to the Centre to check that everything is in place as required to make sure the Centre is meeting its Safeguarding responsibilities. It is a rewarding job when you see the Centre thriving and the children achieving good outcomes. My role is working within Better Start Bradford Team. I am a co opted governor. Our aim is to improve the life chances of children through a comprehensive programme of interventions and activities which will improve outcomes. I am passionate about supporting quality within Early Years Settings in order to improve the life chances of babies and children particularly in the wards of Bowling and Barkerend, Bradford Moor and Little Horton.
