Courses
There are a whole range of courses available at the centre. The courses run at different levels beginning with informal unaccredited courses such as soft furnishings and dressmaking and lead all the way up to NVQ level 3 in childcare.
Other available classes are 'Improve your Maths and English' where you are able to work up to GCSE grade C. Working with children level 1 which includes participating in a 12 hour placement also runs frequently and computer classes may enable you to work from basic text processing up to RSA level 3. So, what are you waiting for come along, meet friends and learn something new !!
Family Learning Course
We offer family learning courses. These are fun but practical courses to enhance the everyday skills of parents. We look at such areas as messy play, treasure baskets, and music and movement, as well as healthy eating, safety and child development.
Parents and carers can attend all the sessions or just dip in and out, depending on what they are interested in. We think it's a good way of supporting parents understanding of their developing child and encouraging family fun time.
Groups
Young Fathers Group
Every Friday we run a Young Fathers Group between 2pm - 4pm. During the group there is a chance to simply relax and socialise. Refreshments and snacks are available, as too are a variety of newspapers. Computers are available with a tutor for either learning the basics or surfing the 'net'.
Parent and Toddler Monday 12.45pm - 2.45pm - General Play
Everyone is welcome to join our parent and toddler session on the day and for the group that suits you!! The group is a good place for you and your children to play, learn and make new friends. Either phone and let us know you are coming, or drop in during the session.
Canterbury Toy & Video Lending Library
Tuesday's and Friday's 9.00am - 9.30am and 12.30pm - 1.00pm
We have a wide selection of Toys for you to borrow. These toys are suitable for your Baby, Toddler or Child. We will also give you advice and support when choosing to make sure the toys are appropriate for your child and their development.
You can join the library for just £1 per year. It costs 50p each time you borrow an item. Each item can be borrowed for 2 weeks at a time. You can borrow 2 items at a time. Childminders can also join the library.
